SIASA completes work on the Monte Urquiola vessel
The project includes a total of 4 Suezmax oil tankers. SIASA has assigned over 300 experts and a million hours of work to carry out the corrosion protection coating works
SIASA completes work on the Monte Urquiola vessel, the third in the Suezmax series that Navantia is building at Puerto Real, Cádiz
This has been one of the most difficult projects SIASA has undertaken to date, both due to the huge scale and the building of 4 vessels at the same time.
The 4 Suezmax vessels, which comply with the specifications for sailing down the Suez canal in terms of width, draught and air draught, are being built at the Navantia shipyard in Puerto Real, Cádiz.
Completed in February, SIASA carried out surface preparation and coating application works in the blocks, pre-assembly and docks phases, and the delivery of the 4 vessels (the fourth is scheduled for completion in May). Since 2016, when the works began, SIASA has assigned over 300 experts who have carried out around a million hours of work to apply cutting-edge corrosion protection coating techniques to over 480,000 square metres of surface area. Additionally, and due to the huge size of these vessels, with a length of 274 metres and width of 16 metres, a large volume of machinery has been necessary.
The third was completed in February and the fourth and final oil tanker is scheduled for completion in May. Our experts’ preparation and the quality and guarantee in the execution of the works has made SIASA the leader in corrosion services for the naval sector.
